VIETNAM WAS THE GREAT ADVENTURE OF MY GENERATION

Return to the Army and Flying

When I was 59 years old I received a letter from the Department of the Army asking me if I would like to rejoin Army Aviation again. The letter indicated that in light of Iraq and Afghanistan, Army Aviation was forming 2-3 new aviation battalions. Because of my Vietnam service record, they were looking for pilots like me to come back into the service. I have met at least 2-3 Vietnam pilots that have gone back on active duty and served in IRAQ. I recommend a book named 19 Seconds to live, written by one of the Army pilots that returned to active duty.
