Our Missing Warrior
Capt. Larry F. Lucas

Email from Larry's Wife

Hi John. My nephew, Mike Holmes, forwarded your message. I am Larry's wife. I don't know if you are aware but Larry's remains were recently identified and we are planning a memorial service here in Vista, California on October 26, with burial in Arlington on November 1. I don't know where you are currently living, but if its possible for you to attend either of these services, our family would be proud and honored to have you join us. I have been contacted by several of his friends from the Army and it looks some will be able to attend one or the other of the services.

Larry's crash site was excavated in 1990 after a doctor saw a village chief in Laos wearing Larry's dog tags. No remains were found in that excavation, however, based on new information, the crash site perimeter was expanded in 1999, and that is when they found the remains. It has taken them almost 3 years to identify the remains. We are so grateful to finally bring him home to rest after almost 36 years.

If you are in contact with any others who served with him, would you pass this information on to them and please feel free to have any of them contact me. Also, I wanted to let you know that my daughter has put a memorial page to her dad on her website at:

amazinglightphotography.com
The page includes a story that was in Larry's hometown newspaper last week.
Thank you again for making an effort to contact us. I can't tell you how much it means to be in touch with his friends. Our family would welcome you with open arms.

SIncerely,
Martha Lucas-Ryan.
